Provincial Programs

All Canadian Provinces offer this category of immigration with the exception of Ontario. This is to encourage immigrant to settle in these provinces with the principal aim of benefiting the economies of the province. This is as a result an agreement reached with the Government of Canada and the provinces which allows the provincial government to play a more direct role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province.
The provinces are:

• Alberta
• Manitobat
• Newfoundland and Labrado
• Prince Edward Island
• Yukon
• British Columbia
• New Brunswick
• Nova Scotia
• Saskatchewan

The provincial nomination programme selects and nominates potential immigrants for permanent residence who have the ability to become economically established in the province and who will provide significant economic benefit to the province. Individuals nominated by the province together with their spouse and dependent children, are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in the provincial nominee class. CIC gives priority to processing permanent resident visa applications for provincial nominees. CIC makes the final decision on these applications.
